Issue Eleven

Robert C. Gray

Working in sculpture, installation, drawing and mixed media - Robert currently explores the contemporary middle-youth narrative of those caught between high expectation and low commitment. His practice is a continuous self-reflection in its themes, characterization and method of making, adopting an unskilled approach to making that is intuitive to his surroundings and somewhat rushed and mediocre in effect; often producing idiosyncratic images/forms of an ad-hoc nature.

He aims to create immersive displays that teeter on the edge of set design; curating 2d and 3d works that generate a dialogue between one another and individually, adding sensibility to issues that may be considered trivial such as latency, futility and loneliness; and a naivety to the more pressing concerns of anxiety, self-entitlement and compulsive desire. //
