I'm currently in my final year of an Art and Philosophy degree at Reading university. In my studio practice I am interested in the way humans interact with the natural world. We place ourselves at the top of the ecosystem hierarchy and take the Earth’s resources without any acknowledgement for the damage this causes. My work plays with the idea that we try and surround ourselves with objects from nature. Yet, we never make the effort to spend a significant amount of time in nature. By pointing out our duplicity I hope to bring to light how much we take nature for granted.

The images I submitted for ‘yugen’ remind me of the magic that can be found on Earth. I captured images that gave me a profound sense of awareness and appreciation for being able to experience. They remind me that I am just a tiny part of this universe and I should not take it for granted. //
