Riana Gideon is a lens-based artist, curator, and educator living and working in Los Angeles, CA. Her work explores family history and reflections on self, society, and place. As an educator she has taught at Las Fotos Project, Occidental College, Josephine Herrick Project, the Lower Eastside Girls Club, Wallkill Prison, NYU, and the Bronx Documentary Center. In 2018 she was the Curatorial Assistant for cit.i.zen.ship: reflections on rights - an exhibition at NYU and Photoville in partnership with For Freedoms - and, currently, she is the Assistant Curator at Artfare. She is actively curating an online exhibition titled MIRROR/IMAGE to understand and archive the ways that artists reflect on various forms of identity. Riana holds a BFA in Photography & Imaging from NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
