Jen LaVita is a painter whose colorful works express are endowed with a simple serenity, often drawn from the beauty of nature.
Jen grew up just outside of Boston, spending long winters and happy summers at her New England home. While getting a B.F.A. in Advertising Design from Syracuse University, Jen joined Army ROTC and upon graduating, left home to serve in the U.S. Army as an Air Defense Artillery Officer. After four years of challenge, spent leading Soldiers, flying a blimp, and even jumping out of "perfectly good airplanes", she followed her heart out west to the coast of California.
Now six years later, Jen creates out of the Grand View Fine Arts Studio in Mar Vista and regularly shows work and live paints at various venues throughout Los Angeles. She has murals throughout the city of LA. Jen is also a member the performance group, the Night Owl Players and the United States Veterans' Artists Alliance. Her work is very colorful, vibrant and often concentrated on nature. Jen draws inspiration from the beauty around her and her love for all animals and sea life. Jen is deeply inspired by nature- the rich colors, textures and patterns. A sense of vitality is always restored in her each time she steps outside and in the way of nature.
