Matthias Düwel

Matthias Düwel was born in Berlin, Germany. He received his Meisterschüler (MFA) from the Universität der Künste Berlin in 1983. The following year he was awarded a DAAD (German Academic Exchange) travel fellowship; made artist in residence at NYU Deutsches Haus; and given a post-graduate fellowship to the New York Studio School. In 1985 he received a Pollock-Krasner grant award. Since then he has had numerous solo exhibitions, including in NYC, LA, Berlin, and Paris, and his works have been featured at international fairs, including Art Basel, Art Basel-Miami and Art Cologne. Favorable reviews of his work have appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Huffington Post, Hi-Fructose, Beautiful Decay, and Glasstire. Today he lives and works in Oracle, Arizona, as well as teaches art at Pima Community College.
